VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Kona Bicycles will hold a pair of fundraising events at next week’s Sea Otter Classic to benefit two mountain bike advocacy groups and their efforts to rebuild trails damaged in last year’s California wildfires. At Booth 576 during the Sea Otter expo, Kona will raffle off a limited-edition bike (just 200 made) valued at $2,299. Only 250 tickets will be sold at $20 each.

(BRAIN) — New kids’ brand Guardian Bikes has signed up new independent reps earlier this year as it looks to grow the number of bike shops that carry its line of kids’ bikes equipped with SureStop brakes.? Reps who have recently come aboard include Jim Bremner covering central and Southern California including Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County; Eric Addicott covering Northern California and Reno; Mike Sweeney covering Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky; Ali Tajiran covering Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas; Eric Daignault covering Oregon and Washington; and Ed Tyler for Florida.? Winter that wasn’t constrains REI profits

SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN)— REI this week reported an 8.4 percent jump in annual sales for 2011, to $1.66 billion, but operating income was down slightly, to $116.2 million from 2010’s record $116.6 million. Net income was flat compared with 2010 at $30.2 million. “We experienced strong sales in 2011. However, because winter weather failed to arrive, our profitability was impacted,” said Brian Unmacht, REI’s executive vice president.

Santa Barbara’s Wheelhouse to close
