Report: Supplier sales on par with last July

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) — U.S. suppliers shipped roughly the same number of bikes to retailers in July as last year, resulting in some improvement in year-to-date sales. Square launches online marketplace

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BRAIN) — Square, best known for its credit card reader for iPhones and iPads, has launched an online marketplace, allowing local businesses to list their inventory online and accept orders through Square Market. Retailers can open an online store in Square Market for free with items, photos, and a business profile. There is no charge for listing items but a fee of 2.75 percent per item sold.

KindHuman launches ‘a different kind of bike company’

TORONTO, Ontario (BRAIN) — KindHuman, a new bike and accessories brand, is taking an unusual approach to the market, offering discounts to community service employees and supporting racing programs for underprivileged youth. The company is currently offering a high-end carbon road frameset and will soon expand with complete bike kits, clothing and accessories. It is setting up accounts with a handful of IBDs and is building a business model that includes keystone margins for retailers.
